Hi, everyone. It’s been a while.
I’ve been very busy with other happenings in my life, and as a result this blog has fallen a little to the wayside. However, I must admit that this isn’t the only reason I’ve been so inactive here.
Inspiration comes and goes, sure, but a major reason I’ve taken a step back from this content has to do with the current state of the world. There is something about looking at thousand-dollar garments at shows attended by some of the richest people in the world while half the country struggles to survive that’s just hard to do. Every day there is a new horror we have to look in the face and we are just expected to accept. Further, as someone with a platform that exists on the internet I feel it is crucial to acknowledge the moment we’re living in.
We are living under an administration which will trade in our corpses for a stack of blood money, that wishes nothing but the worst for us as long as they can rule the world. They villainize our neighbors both domestically and abroad, and they are purveyors of violence against anyone who does not agree with them. They are denigrating the constitution and ignoring the law while using it as a blunt force object to assert their will and control over the American people. They are active participants in the Palestinian genocide.
I want people to know where I stand on these issues because I think that it’s important. But I also want people to know that all is not lost; we have the power, but only if we wield it effectively. Learn your rights, talk to your neighbors, mobilize your community. Learn how to defend yourself. They are expecting us to become so tired of the meat grinder we call the news cycle that we just lie down and let them do whatever they want; it is imperative that we do not become complacent. Fascism has no home here or anywhere.
What does this mean for the blog? I am working on an article now, which should be out in a week or two. As for the future, expect a pivot in content matter; you’ll see less big labels and more niche content.
Abolish ICE, fuck Trump, and remember: there’s more of us than there are of them. A future of possibility is still in our hands; don’t let them take it away.
